Donna Grain was a long-time board member of the Collie Club of Hawaii. She was responsible for whelping and raising several collie and sheltie litters of En Chang. Donna was a skilled canine midwife and could help frail puppies get stronger with lots of TLC, judicious tube-feeding, and quick medical intervention when needed.
Donna manned the club’s Responsible Dog Ownership booth for many years. She was always happy to share her extensive knowledge and quick to extol the many virtues of the collie. She was very encouraging to young visitors while making sure they understood that getting a dog included years of dedicated care and attention.
After Donna became a resident at Maluhia, club members and their dogs would gather on July 4th to celebrate her birthday. The club still celebrates Donna’s life and many contributions every 4th of July.
